by Georgia Charter Schools Association
As the number of public charter schools in Georgia continues to grow, so does the need for governing board members with the critical skills required to steer charter schools from mission development, through petition submission, to opening day.
GCSA offers FREE training for potential board members. The training is for individuals who have a heart for education and a desire to serve the charter school community. The training program is a comprehensive orientation to the skills and parameters of charter school board service. Please note, it does not satisfy the legal requirements for existing charter school board members.
“The capacity of a charter school board to govern with professionalism, clear lines of authority and best practices is absolutely critical to a school’s success,” says Waynica Staples, GCSA’s Director of Leadership Development and Training. “Finding the right people to serve on boards and preparing them to govern effectively, is the mission of our Board Bank.”
If you have expertise in education, business, law, human resources, marketing, fundraising, or other specialized fields — or if you have strong community and business ties in a particular community, your service can be invaluable to current or future charter public schools.
Upon successful completion of the training, GCSA will match you with schools who would benefit from your skill set. For further information, and to register for future classes, contact Waynica Staples,firstname.lastname@example.org, Director of Leadership Development & Training.
