International Community School
International Community School is a public DeKalb County, Georgia K-5 International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) charter school with the special mission of educating recently arrived refugee children alongside children born in the United States.
Today, ICS serves over 400 children annually in grades K-5 representing over 30 countries and speaking 25 languages. Students at ICS represent an economic mix seldom seen in U.S. public schools. Forty-nine percent are child refugees or immigrants, and 68% are eligible for free or reduced lunch. ICS operates school-wide under the guiding principles of global citizenship, demonstrated in classrooms, extracurricular activities, and administrative operations.
Reports to: Principal
∙ Collaborates with the Board of Directors, Principal and Development Committee to create and implement a development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of ICS.
∙ Implements the development plan in accordance with ethical fundraising principles and ensures the activities are carried out in keeping with ICS mission, vision, statements of understanding and strategic plan.
∙ Identifies and builds a portfolio of major gift donors and cultivate relationships on an ongoing basis.
∙ Manages the aggressive corporate and foundation grants campaign including prospect research, identification, request submission, and reporting.
∙ Becomes involved in the community and understands the value of building strategic community and business partnerships that can be leveraged for the benefit of ICS.
∙ Acts as chief storyteller by building community awareness of and excitement around the work of the school by leveraging powerful stories of families, staff, and children and sharing these stories in strategic, inspiring ways.
∙ Solicits contributions on behalf of the organization, both independently and with volunteers, Principal, and board of directors.
∙ Oversees the planning and execution of special fundraising events as specified in the development plan to generate funds for the organization.
∙ Collaborates with the Communications Director to coordinate the design, printing and/or electronic distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts.
∙ Oversees the administration of a donor database, gift acknowledgment process, and all tracking systems.
∙ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
∙ 5 years of experience in planning, developing, implementing fundraising strategies and determining their effectiveness in achieving short and long term goals
∙ Demonstrated experience and success working with the greater Atlanta philanthropic community to secure major donors and foundation or government grants
∙ Considerable experience with a donor/contact management system (CRM)
∙ Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
∙ Experience or ability to work with boards, councils and/or committees with successful outcomes
∙ Strong desire to work for the mission and cause of the International Community School
∙ CFRE Certification preferred
