Genesis Innovation Academy (for Girls and for Boys)
Genesis Innovation Academy consists of two Atlanta-based, statewide charter schools: one for girls and one for boys. Both are open to all Georgia families. We are committed to developing scholars into path-breaking innovators, using the Academy’s own E5 curriculum model, which combines core subjects with Engineering, Economics, Ethics, Expression, and Entrepreneurship. We seek teachers who are proactive learners and problem solvers, who are committed to excellence from scholars and themselves, and who believe that teaching is a calling and not a job.
ELA – Genesis charges ELA faculty with developing instructional plans that facilitate scholar mastery of ELA standards. ELA faculty are also asked to inspire scholars to use the power of verbal, written, and artistic Expression to communicate ideas, to change opinions, and to move people to think, to feel, and to act. Scholar innovation should result in original works (e.g. blogs, essays, books, articles, presentations, songs, commercials, movies, etc.).
Reading – Reading faculty will challenge scholars to master standards by using literary fiction, philosophy, and canonical religious texts to explore Ethics and the changing ideas of right and wrong across time and space. Faculty efforts should result in scholars with a considered code of personal ethics and a proactive desire to make a positive difference in their world.
Math – Math faculty will challenge scholars to apply math as a tool to model and solve real-life problems, particularly in Economics and Finance. The result should be scholars who leverage higher-level math to better understand the fundamentals of saving, investing, building wealth, and economic decision-making.
Science – Science faculty will challenge scholars to investigate the use of science to Engineer solutions to complex, real-world problems (especially in the areas of human and environmental health). This should results in scholars who understand science as a tool that is personally and practically relevant on a continuing basis.
The Genesis Commitment to Faculty
Our faculty members are highly valued as primary facilitators of scholar excellence. We view faculty as professionals, fully capable of effective planning, instruction, and class management. Genesis commits to a collaborative process for developing individualized support and coaching plans. We prioritize small-classes, and respectful scholar-peer and scholar-faculty interaction in support of teaching and learning.
