Register now for GCSA’s Financial Management Certification program! The latest cohort kicks off on Wednesday, Jan. 27, and goes through April 1, 2021. Classes can be taken individually, but participants must complete 48 hours (six 8-hour courses) of training to receive certification. All sessions are currently scheduled online.
*PLEASE NOTE* Scholarships are currently available for participants employed in a charter school authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission. However, funding could be impacted by COVID-19 related budget cuts. To ensure this funding is renewed, state charter school participants should register as quickly as possible.
This program has been approved by the Georgia Department of Education and is led by Erika Ellison, former KIPP Metro Atlanta CFO. The training is specifically designed to build the expertise and knowledge of charter school leaders and board members who oversee their schools’ financial operations. However, registration is open to all interested charter school employees. Our program is tailored to address the unique financial issues facing charter schools, and the course content is both rigorous and relevant. Course content will include:
- Governmental Accounting 101: Jan. 27
- Policy Development & Implementation: Jan. 28
- QBE Funding & School Budget Development: Feb. 24
- Procurement, Payroll & Compensation Practices: Feb. 25
- Internal Controls & Effective Financial Oversight: March 31
- Audit Best Practices: April 1
*GCSA will submit the required scholarship paperwork to the State Charter Schools Commission on behalf of state charter school participants. No further action is required other than timely registration. Spots are limited so please register ASAP.
