I am excited to join the Georgia Charter Schools Association as the Director of Grassroots Advocacy.
My professional experiences advocating for school choice on political campaigns and in lawmakers’ offices–coupled with my personal background as a graduate of an under-performing high school in Southwest Georgia–have contributed to my unique perspective and a genuine sense of urgency for this work. I look forward to building a coalition of students, teachers, and parents to help promote equal access to high-quality public education regardless of a student’s background, socio-economic status, or zip code.
I am a testament to the transformative power of educational opportunity. A proud Dougherty High School alumnus, I was the first in my family to attend college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University. Upon completing a stint in “College to Congress,” a program that encourages politically-minded students to intern on Capitol Hill, I continued to champion the importance of school choice in the halls of Congress as a Legislative Aide and on the trail of a presidential campaign. I believe all students deserve access to the types of opportunities that enabled my success, and I cannot wait to bring my knowledge of grassroots advocacy to bear in my work with charter schools in Georgia.
