Beverly Melinda James was born in Tela, Honduras and grew up in New York City. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a Master of Arts in Professional Writing from Kennesaw State University in Georgia. She spent the next 30 years as a journalist and public and media relations professional. Beverly lives near Atlanta, where you can find her strolling the aisles of local farmer’s markets and bookstores.
As Director of Advocacy Communications, Beverly will work directly with charter schools in the Atlanta Public School district and state charter schools with students living in the APS attendance zone. She will also manage existing, and build new, relationships with Atlanta elected officials, stakeholders and partners. Beverly is incredibly excited to use her depth of experience and passion for public education to advocate for children in the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia.
