ATLANTA – The Georgia Charter Schools Association (GCSA) wants to congratulate KIPP STRIVE Academy in Atlanta, Georgia for recognition as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School. The school is one of only nine in Georgia to receive the award.
KIPP STRIVE Academy is a college preparatory charter school in the national Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) network. The public charter school was founded in 2009 and serves 336 students in grades 5-8. Kipp Strive Academy believes all students can succeed academically. More than 95 percent of those who attend the Academy are African American, and 78 percent are eligible for the federal free and reduced meal program.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding U.S. schools. This year, more than 300 schools received the honor. The award recognizes schools that have demonstrated overall academic excellence or who have managed to close achievement gaps among student subgroups.
