ATLANTA — The Georgia Charter Schools Association provided the following statement regarding the passing of former First Lady Sandra Deal.
We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of former First Lady Sandra Deal. Mrs. Deal was a dedicated servant to our state. Her commitment to public education and improving literacy for Georgia’s children was unmatched. We’re grateful for her support of public charter schools, and we were proud to recognize her as one of our inaugural ‘Champion for Children Award’ winners. She will be missed by many—including the staff and board members at GCSA. We send our thoughts and prayers to the families of Mrs. Deal and former Gov. Nathan Deal.
