No two children are quite alike. As parents, we all want our children to be viewed with the uniqueness they display and to be treated kindly and with respect by those we entrust with their education. Sometimes, student population size, budgets, administrative agendas, or other factors can overshadow this concept in the school system.
CharterDevelopment 101 is a FREE intensive, three (3) hour training that is designed to give school developers foundational knowledge about chartering in Georgia. This class is best suited for those that are at the very beginning of the charter school journey and want to better understand the charter landscape, process and timeline, authorizer expectations, and how to build a strong team.
Learn the skills required to start, lead and replicate high-quality charter schools. If you’re a new or aspiring charter school leader, or just want to improve your leadership skills, GCSA’s Summer Bootcamp will give you the tools necessary for success.
This year’s emphasis is on maximizing student achievement. Attendees will spend time developing and/or refining leadership competencies, school improvement plans, and HR practices. Schools are encouraged to send teams to participate in a collaborative learning experience as they work to improve academic outcomes for students.

The Georgia Charter Schools Association is writing this open letter to express our deep concern regarding the new charter policy adopted by the DeKalb County School Board on September 14, 2015. We believe the district’s new policy is at odds with the State Board of Education and could be in violation of state law. We’re also fearful this signals decreasing support for start-up charter schools at a time when the district wants to become a charter system.
