As a pivotal member of our GCSA New School Development Team, the Regional Field Director, New School Development plays a vital role in fostering community engagement, recruiting qualified leaders, building relationships with stakeholders, and advocating for educational reform. The Field Director will spearhead the recruitment of talented and diverse leaders, establish strategic partnerships, enhance public support for charter schools, and represent our organization at key events and forums.

The Georgia Charter Schools Association congratulates Excelsior Village Academies (EVA) on its recent groundbreaking ceremony. The event was held on Saturday, May 11, at EVA’s future 37-acre campus in Stockbridge and marks a major milestone. The state-authorized charter school participated in GCSA’s Incubator program and is scheduled to open to students in grades K-3 this fall. Excelsior Village Academies will serve students in Fulton, Clayton, Henry, and Dekalb counties, with plans to expand through the eighth grade.

Gov. Brian Kemp signed two pivotal bills for Georgia’s public charter schools during a ceremony today at the Georgia Capitol. House Bill 318 increases transparency, improves oversight of Georgia’s charter schools and authorizers, protects charter school autonomy, and ensures public charter schools receive the funding to which they are entitled under state law. House Bill 1122 provides an estimated $6 million in additional funding for charter school principals and superintendents. In addition to allocating more funding for principals and superintendents in charter schools, the legislation also clarifies that charter school enrollment priority may be given to children of “part-time” paraprofessionals and other employees who work in charter schools.
