Two surprise announcements lead the news this week: 1) that former State Rep. Alisha Thomas Morgan will become the head of Ivy Preparatory Academies, 2) that Erin Hames, an architect of Governor Deal’s Opportunity School District proposal, will become an advisor to Atlanta Public Schools on school turnaround. In addition, several new charter school openings get strong coverage around the state. AJC covers school choice from a “scarcity” POV this week, following an AP story about the lack of student seats in public schools of choice.
