Position Summary:
The Principal is responsible for the instructional and organizational leadership of REACH. This role serves as REACH’s advocate and works with all stakeholders to create a shared vision for REACH that positions it for success and engages students and their community. The principal also works with others to develop and execute an improvement plan and allocates resources to continually improve student achievement. The principal is committed to building a talented team to create a safe, engaging learning environment.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Personnel Management & School Culture
- Ability to lead with a student-first mindset.
- Working within company guidelines to hire, train, and supervise teaching staff
- Foster a positive, inclusive school culture that supports student success, staff collaboration, and community engagement.
- Evaluating teacher performance and serving as a contact person for problem resolution or guidance.
- Conducts in-service training programs and supervises new staff development.
- Monitor and anticipate staffing vacancies and/or FTE needs. Conduct interviews.
Financial Management
- Monitor student enrollment numbers, including actively seeking referrals from surrounding schools.
- Monitor expenses to ensure alignment with the budget.
- Monitor FTE segments and Teacher Training and Experience with regard to QBE.
Quality Educational Progress and Compliance
- Directs teaching staff to provide educational and vocational guidance for students.
- Supervises state-mandated tests to ensure quality and compliance.
- Supervise any audits required for compliance
- Support conflict resolution with teachers, parents, and students.
Community Engagement
- Maintain a positive relationship with surrounding schools
- Be a strong brand ambassador for REACH in the community.
- Seek and maintain a good relationship with higher education, workforce, and industry partners.
- Seek out resources for students and families through community partnerships.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, conflict resolution, and effective communications necessary to work with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community.
- Demonstrated skills in classroom management.
- Demonstrated skills in keeping records, managing and understanding data, and preparing and presenting reports.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum standards, instructional leadership, and school improvement strategies.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, school policies, and instructional best practices.
- Responds as necessary to urgent situations or emergencies to maintain safety, calm, and order for students, staff, and visitors.
- Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the school and deals with special cases as necessary.
- Serves with parents, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment, in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills while maintaining courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Georgia Professional Teacher Certification preferred.
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in educational leadership, administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three to five years of successful teaching or school leadership experience preferred
- Two to three years of administrative or supervisory experience, such as an assistant principal preferred.
- Professional experience in alternative and non-traditional school models preferred.
- Valid Educational Leadership certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and move throughout the building to observe classrooms and activities.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally (books, materials, equipment).
- Work may include occasional evening or weekend hours for events, meetings, or emergencies.
