Description
Cirrus Academy is an accredited tuition-free K-8th grade school in Macon, Georgia, offers a hands-on curriculum in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) under the leadership of Dr. Gail M. Fowler. Launched in 2016, Cirrus Academy has various departments for academic success and artistic expression. Its early intervention program (EIP) enhances reading and mathematics skills of K-5th grade students and its middle school (6th – 8th grade) students receive supplemental instruction and academic preparation through Cirrus Academy’s Before and After School Program. The school’s Creative and Fine Arts Department features visual arts, creative writing, broadcasting, instrumental, vocal, oratorical and dance instruction and expression. Extracurricular activities at Cirrus Academy include football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and cheerleading teams, in addition to robotics team, which all provide additional opportunities to further explore STEM while enhancing leadership, self-discipline and critical thinking skills.
About the Position:
Cirrus Academy has five (5) Paraprofessional and two (2) SPED Paraprofessional vacancies ranging from grades K to 8.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of child development and student learning.
- Some knowledge of teaching and instruction methods.
- Ability to use technology effectively.
- Ability to work with children by implementing lesson plans.
- Ability to instruct, give directions to, and provide guidance to children.
- Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with students, teachers, parents and school employees.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work under close supervision.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Clerical skills including the use of technology in performance of duties are desired.
- Good interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
- Completion of two (2) years of college (90 quarter or 60 semester hours) or pass the Paraprofessional GACE test is required; Associates degree is desired
- Some experience working with children is desired.
