Description
POSITION SUMMARY
In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress, maintains safety, and manages the learning environment. Substitutes must ensure continuity of appropriate learning during the absence of permanent educators. They must also be adaptable to changing district needs and create and maintain a climate that promotes respect, tolerance, and peaceful problem-solving for all students. This position is on-call and assigned based on operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum requirements:
- HS Diploma/GED
- Pass a GBI Criminal Background Check
- Valid or expired Georgia Teacher or Paraprofessional Certificate
- Must relate well to students and inspire the love of learning
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to comprehend and follow directives
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
**Must maintain a Clearance Certificate issued by the GA Professional Standards Commission.
