For the first time in the nine-year history of the event, the annual conference of the GCSA will be held outside of metro Atlanta. About 400 charter school supporters are expected to attend the GCSA Charter Schools Conference, Oct. 6 and 7, at the Macon Marriott City Center Hotel. Fulton Science Academy Charter Middle School has been selected by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2011 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. The school will be honored at a formal ceremony in Washington D.C., Nov.  14-15. The Blue Ribbon School Program honors public and private K-12 schools for their academic excellence and ability to help students achieve at very high scholastic levels.
