Participants will learn to develop and maintain robust internal control structures, systems, and policies to ensure that sound fiscal management practices are in place. Topics include creating a culture of financial discipline, segregation of duties, grant management, travel reimbursement practices, procurement, internal control reviews and sample testing, policies and procedures, risk management, fraud detection, and insurance.

BOARD BOOSTS: Board Boost is a forum of 60-minute sessions, where we tackle some of the most common governance challenges and explore critical topics, such as succession planning, onboarding, academic oversight, and effective school leader oversight. During these sessions, participants will engage with members of other boards to share solutions from the field during our facilitated discussions. During these sessions, you will learn of best practices and receive resources you can use immediately to boost the effectiveness of your board.

This session is specifically tailored to school leaders. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about GCSA’s GaTAPP program and to ask general certification questions. Leaders will also be provided with details on how teacher certification can increase the funding their schools receive through the state formula.
