Grant Eligibility Details

The Incubator programs are made possible through grants and donations that are aimed to meet certain specific objectives. Answering these questions to the best of your ability will allow the Incubator to maximize opportunities for all interested candidates.

Is the school leader (i.e. the school principal) part of the application team? If so, please identify the school leader and what role they will have in the application process.

Does the school leader have experience with school-based leadership (i.e. previously served as an Instructional Coach, PLC Lead, Dean, Assistant Principal, or Principal)? If so, please describe the school leader’s experience with school leadership.

Does the school plan to enroll a majority of its students from the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) district?

Priority Eligibility

The Incubator aims to further GCSA’s mission to increase student access to high-quality charter schools and will prioritize candidates and prospective schools that meet one or more of the following characteristics:

Evidences the commitment, dedication, and capacity to target and serve educationally-disadvantaged students and similarly underserved students.

Proposes to be located in an area identified for priority consideration by the State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia (SCSC). For FY 24 applications, “Priority Area” is defined as a location more than five miles from any operational charter school, calculated as the most direct route measured in a straight line. If approved, a petition that plans to locate a charter school in a Priority Area must locate and serve students within a Priority Area during its first operational school year.
