- Additional Facility Grant Funding
―Last year, Georgia Charter Schools Association worked to get $3M added (to bring the total grant fund up to $7.5M.)
- Require Itemization of Administrative Withhold
―“Charter school authorizers shall itemize and value the services provided to each local charter school in exchange for any administrative fees withheld from the school. Authorizers shall spend all collected administrative fees directly on charter school support and services and refund to schools on a pro rata basis any unspent portion of collected fees.”
- Clarify Allowable Usage of Letters of Assurance
―“Charter school authorizers may issue annual letters of assurance to charter schools provided that the letters are solely informational and do not supersede the charter contract, constitute an addendum to the charter contract, or supersede any aspect of state and federal law. Charter schools should have a minimum of 30 days to review letters of assurance following issuance.”
- Fund Charters Based on Enrollment
―“Local boards must fund charter schools based on aggregate student enrollment provided the school has not exceeded the schoolwide enrollment cap outlined in the charter contract. A charter school may exceed an enrollment cap by no more than 2% without being in breach of contract, but the charter school is not entitled to local supplement funding for additional students.”
- Charter School Oversight (to ensure timeline mediation of disputes and improve communication with decision makers.)
