Dr. Linda Winfree is an educator at Baconton Community Charter School. The colleague who nominated Dr. Winfree says she works to meet the individual needs her students and serves as an inspiration to her fellow coworkers.
“Dr. Winfree differentiates lessons daily with students both in person and online. She models the student-centered classroom so effectively that she doesn’t have to think about it anymore. I can stand outside her door, eavesdropping, and learn so much. She introduces her lesson then works with small groups to help students achieve, regardless of where they are initially,” says Winfree’s colleague at Baconton Community Charter School. “Not only does she work with students, she shares unconditionally with peers. If she has a good idea or types a cheat sheet for herself, she shares it with other teachers. We truly appreciate it because teaching online with new equipment required a lot collaboration! Dr. Winfree also has good relationships with parents. We could always go to her if we could not contact a parent ourselves.
Dr. Winfree uses charts with post it notes in class. She adapted that to include Jam Boards so online students could participate. She also integrated a SWIVL robot and tablet to follow her around the room so that online students could see and hear her at any position in the room.”
