The Georgia Charter Schools Association wants to thank the member schools participating in our inaugural “Open House” celebration during National Charter Schools Week. The “Open House” events took place May 8-14 and were an opportunity for Georgia’s public charter schools to demonstrate to elected officials and the broader community how the 60,000 charter school students in our state are transforming public education and the lives of children.
Four Georgia lawmakers attended “Open House” events at Georgia charter schools. Sen. Elena Parent visited International Community School; Rep. Mesha Manor attended a virtual event at Georgia Cyber Academy and Rep. Pedro Marin and Sen. Michelle Au took part in a National Charter Schools Week celebration at Yi Hwang Academy of Language Excellence. Other schools holding “Open House” events included Atlanta SMART Academy, DeKalb Preparatory Academy, Tapestry Public Charter School, Liberty Tech Charter School and The Museum School of Avondale Estates.
National Charter Schools Week exists to celebrate charter schools that nearly 3.6 million students across America depend on for an excellent education.
