Kim D. Harrington serves as the chief of staff to the executive vice president of administration and finance at Georgia Tech. Prior to this, she was the chief human resources officer (CHRO) for Georgia Tech. Kim joined human resources in 2015 from the Georgia Tech Student Center, where she served since 2001. Kim has broad higher education experience and worked in Residence Life, Admissions, and served as an assistant dean of students.
Known for her exceptional customer service, sincere care for people, and strong problem-solving skills, Kim currently serves on the GT Recovery Task Force; she recently co-led the Working @ Georgia Tech in support of post-pandemic employment practices and serves on numerous campus committees.
In recognition of her leadership, Kim received the USG Chancellor’s Gold Service Excellence Leadership Award for outstanding performance and commitment to customer service in 2015. In 2018, Kim was selected as the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Butts-Whiting Award winner. This career achievement award recognizes and honors outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to the college union and student activities movement and whose accomplishments and careers are a credit to ACUI.
Kim has a heart for children in foster care. She currently serves as a board member of Georgia CASA and chairs the personnel committee. Kim is originally from Buffalo, New York and lives in Douglasville, Georgia with her two teenage sons. She is a member of the Douglas Carroll Paulding Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Kim holds a B.A. in Psychology from State University of New York at Fredonia, an M.Ed. Higher Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Ph.D. Educational Psychology from Georgia State University.
