Abigail Lorden, Statesboro STEAM Academy

Georgia Charter Schools Association is excited to recognize Abigail Lorden, a graduate of Statesboro STEAM Academy, as an outstanding senior in the class of 2020. Lorden was nominated by Corliss Reese, Director and Superintendent at Statesboro STEAM Academy.

What are the student’s plans after graduation?

After graduation, Abigail will attend Georgia Southern University where she will be a part of the University’s Honors Program. She plans to major in Special Education and potentially pursue a minor in Spanish.

Why does this student deserve recognition?

Abigail is Statesboro STEAM’s 2020 Valedictorian. She is deserving of this honor because she is a hard-working student. While attending Statesboro STEAM, Abigail has been a strong advocate for her education and the education of others.

How has attending a Georgia public charter school benefited the student?

Abigail says, “Attending a charter school has benefited me the most because of its size. Since it is a smaller environment, the teachers can identify our individual strengths and weaknesses and adjust how we’re learning if necessary. Every teacher puts so much confidence in each student and makes us feel like we can do anything. Because of that, they made learning feel fun rather than feel like a chore. I always looked forward to attending school because it felt like home. Every teacher and staff member knows you as a person instead of a number. I will always remember the relationships I made with my teachers because I was lucky enough to attend a charter school, specifically, Statesboro STEAM Academy.
