Georgia Charter Schools Association salutes Bethany Norwood, an art teacher at Coastal Empire Montessori Charter School in Savannah. Coastal Empire Montessori Charter School is public charter school authorized by the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Public Education.
“This is the first year our school has been able to offer an Art class. Ms. Bethany has impacted, not only our students, but our teachers and community with a rich art program,” says Katherine Davis, Head of Montessori Curriculum & Instruction at Coastal Empire Montessori Charter School. “Artwork is now beautifully displayed around our school. Ms. Bethany also received a grant to have students paint a mural on campus next year and her most recent project was for the International Student Climate Art Project (ISCAP), where students created 3D artwork out of repurposed materials to display in a Monarch Butterfly Waystation garden, which the art students helped put together!”
