Brittani Horne is a fourth grade teacher at Tybee Island Maritime Academy. The parents who nominated Ms. Horne say she motivates her students and continually goes above and beyond to help them excel.
“Ms Horne is the first teacher we have had that makes my son want to try harder. She goes out of her way to give each kid attention whether during school or not, says one of the Tybee Island Maritime Academy parents who nominated her. “My son sends her messages into the late evenings and weekends asking random questions and wanting to share exciting no school stories. During the start of the school year she became everyone’s quarantined best friend. For my son, Ms. Horne makes him want to try his hardest and make her proud. It is a rare leader/teacher who inspires that type of we are in this together and your win is my win mentality.
Ms. Horne has moved from virtual to live to quarantined virtual to back to live, all the time engaging the kids who were present in the classroom and those working remotely. She makes it look deceivingly easy, but whatever the classroom setting, she weaves a sort of tranquility over the class, the controls the temperature with her evenness kindness and compassion. I’m a yeller and I am in awe.”
“Mrs. Horne is by far one of the most personable and most communicative teachers that we have had in our child’s life so far. She’s 100% genuine in her work, says another Tybee Island Maritime Academy parent. “At the end of every school, our son Carson definitely comes home with most importantly a gracious heart as well as a new found knowledge from something that Mrs. Horne had thought him that day.
Mrs. Horne’s innovativeness truly did shine throughout the restrictions of COVID. She has consistently was able to successfully connect, teach, and also have a great relationship with her students. As well as provide a wonderful learning platform for the 4th grade this entire year. She has continued a very efficient and functional classroom whether it be virtually, half virtual or in person.”
