KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools and Ivy Preparatory Academy were among the exemplary group of charter schools selected to share insights on COVID-19 prevention strategies and health disparities facing students and information on how schools can address health barriers with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Kimberly Foster, the Regional School Nurse for KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools, and Derek Bolton, Director of Operations at Ivy Preparatory Academy, were both featured in a new CDC blog post entitled “Stories from the Field: Conversations on COVID-19 Prevention with 3 Exemplary Charter Schools.” Foster and Bolton discussed successful strategies used employed to combat COVID-19, challenges faced during the pandemic, and KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools’ and Ivy Preparatory Academy’s responses to CDC COVID-19 Community Level guidance. KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools operates 11 tuition-free, public charter schools on seven campuses in Metro Atlanta. Ivy Preparatory Academy (Ivy Prep) is the first single gender, K-8 charter school in Georgia, educating girls from Dekalb County, Clayton County, South Fulton, and the City of Atlanta.
