Cynthia Holcombe is a second grade teacher at Fulton Academy of Science and Technology. This year, she has been teaching students both virtually and face-to-face. Ms. Holcombe is dependable, reliable and can adapt as needed. She feels honored and proud to a be positive influence for her students.
“Ms. Holcombe is very structured and kind, and instills good values in her students,” says the colleague who nominated her. “She has created a safe place for everyone to share their feelings.”
“She is the best teacher that I have had, and she makes learning fun,” says a student in Ms. Holcombe’s class.
“Ms. Holcombe is an amazing teacher who has taught us stuff that we can use for the rest of our life,” says another second grade FAST student.
Ms. Holcombe makes sure that all of her students, including those who are virtual, participate in hands-on classroom activities. This school year, students made parachutes and pinwheels in science and created shapes using marshmallows in math. Ms. Holcombe says students learning at home have been just as engaged those in the classroom.
