Falen was born and raised in Fairfield, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham, and is a product of the Fairfield City Public School System. After graduating high school, she enrolled at Jacksonville State University (2003-2007) where she was a Student Government Association (SGA) Senator. She was named SGA Senator of the Year in both 2006 and 2007 and served as the School Delegation Leader for the YMCA’s Collegiate Legislature. Falen attended Mercer University’s Walter F. Georgia School from 2007 to 2010. Upon graduation, she was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a national honor society which recognizes graduating third year law students who have demonstrated outstanding ability in preparation and presentation of moot appellate arguments.
Falen began her legal career at the Eastern Judicial Circuit’s Office of the Public Defender where she was assigned to a 2-person appellate team and the “major crimes division.” Falen remains the youngest attorney from either the public defender’s office or the district attorney’s office to ever be assigned to that division.
In 2017, Falen and her partners formed Cox, Rodman, and Middleton, LLC, a litigation law firm practicing criminal defense, personal injury, and family law. She was named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the field of personal injury law in 2019 and 2020; named to Georgia Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite in 2020; and her firm has been rated one of the region’s best personal injury law firms by the Georgia Business Journal. Her commentary and legal analysis has been featured in publications by Fox News, U.S. News & World Reports, Next Advisor in partnership with TIME Magazine, in an extensive report commissioned by Human Rights Watch and the American Civil Liberties Union, and in various other printed publications.
In addition to supporting the community throughout her career, Falen seeks to empower women and the larger community through her various community affiliations. She is a member of the Port City Bar Association (PCBA). She served as secretary, vice-chair, and chair of the Savannah Classical Academy Governing Board and is a founding member of the Savannah Classical Academy Foundation Board. She is an inaugural member of Mercer Law School’s Young Alumni Council and serves on the Board of Directors for Step Up Savannah. In 2018 she received the Emerging Leader Award from the Savannah Multicultural Chamber of Commerce and was named one of Savannah’s top Forty Under Forty. Falen is a member of the Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and a charter member of the Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Falen Cox strives to serve her community while using the law to ensure justice and motivate positive social change.
