Georgia Charter Schools Association wants to congratulate the four charter schools named to the 2018 list of Title I Distinguished Schools. Amana Academy, Charles. R. Drew Charter School, Charles R. Drew Junior and Senior Academy and Wesley International Academy are among the top 5 percent of all Title I schools in Georgia when ranked according to their most recent CCRPI scores.
Title 1 is a federal program that provides financial assistance to Local Education Agencies and schools in which children from low-income families make up at least 40 percent of a school’s enrollment. The supplemental funding seeks to bridge the achievement gap.
Amana Academy, Charles. R. Drew Charter School, Charles R. Drew Junior and Senior Academy, Wesley International Academy and other schools on the Title 1 Distinguished Schools List, are eligible to apply for the National ESEA Distinguished Schools Program award sponsored by the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators.
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) plans to calculate the list of Distinguished Schools on a yearly basis. Starting this fall, GaDOE will also calculate a list of Reward Schools, schools with the highest rate of CCRPI improvement when compared to the previous year’s score.
