The Georgia Department of Education is recognizing 13 public charter schools as 2022-2023 literacy leaders. The charter schools are among 155 Georgia elementary schools that GaDOE is honoring for exceptional achievement or growth in third-grade reading on the 2022-2023 Georgia Milestones Assessments. The Georgia Charter Schools Association congratulates Academy for Classical Education, Atlanta Classical Academy, Amana Academy School, Brookhaven Innovation Academy, Fulton Academy of Science and Technology, Genesis Innovation Academy for Girls, International Charter School of Atlanta, International Community School, Leadership Preparatory Academy, Museum School of Avondale Estates, Resurgence Hall Charter School, The Kindezi School and Westside Atlanta Charter School.
GaDOE is recognizing schools with 90% or more of their third-grade students reading at grade level for outstanding achievement on the Georgia Milestones. Schools with a 15% or higher increase from 2021-22 to 2022-23 were identified for outstanding growth.
