Gregg Stevens, Georgia Charter Schools Association’s Vice President of New School Development, is stepping down from GCSA to assume a lead role at a Macon charter school. Gregg will serve as the Executive Director at Cirrus Academy.
“Gregg will certainly do great things at Cirrus Academy,” said Tony Roberts, President and CEO of GCSA. “We look forward to supporting him in his new role, and we know Cirrus will be a strong local partner for GCSA under Gregg’s leadership.”
Gregg will be succeeded by Christa Thomas who has served as GCSA’s Vice President of School Success since 2022. Christa has an extensive background in educational leadership and new school development. She previously served as a founding charter school principal with KIPP, a manager of recruitment for Teach for America and the Vice President of Schools for IDEA Public Schools.
During his tenure at GCSA, Gregg successfully led the GSCA Charter School Incubator which provides rigorous programming and supports to charter school applicants hoping to establish high-quality charter schools throughout Georgia. Under Gregg’s leadership, the incubator enabled the opening of seven new charter schools. Gregg also led GCSA’s work with the Georgia Strategic Charter School Growth Initiative. As part of the initiative, he supported the replication and expansion of charter schools by assisting petitioners in the areas of school design, application preparation, and pre-opening processes.
“I’m extraordinarily grateful for the opportunity to support charter schools through the Georgia Charter Schools Association,” said Gregg Stevens, GCSA’s Outgoing Vice President of New School Development. “I look forward to working closely with GCSA to ensure the success of Cirrus and charter schools around Georgia.”
Gregg will remain at GCSA through Thursday, Aug 3. As Executive Director for Cirrus Academy, Gregg will work closely with school leadership and the board to fulfill the mission and vision of the school.
