Lance Kroeze is a special education teacher at Tybee Island Maritime Academy. The parent who nominated Mr. Kroeze describes him as a supportive educator who motivates students and works to meet their individual needs.
“My son is in 5th grade (he had Mr. Kroeze last year). Up until March, he was a virtual student while many of his peers returned in person. Mr. Kroeze remained part of our IEP team and has advocated for my son well beyond what was expected of him,” says the parent who nominated Mr. Kroez. “His concern for my child’s education prompted him to take my child back onto his case load to ensure he wouldn’t fall through the cracks. The man is a phenomenal educator-he has a special way with all the children at TIMA but especially for those who need a different kind of patience and care. We adore him and hold him to the highest standard because he is the best. This is our second charter and I can honestly say that Mr. Kroeze has inspired my child and made a lover of books out of my non-reader. He is a gift to Chatham County.
Mr. Kroeze has worn many hats this year. I mentioned about his going above and beyond with my child but he also took on the rest of the gen Ed 5th graders who lost their teacher mid-year. And he did this when his plate was already so full. I honestly don’t know how he has managed to be so positive and supportive all year. He is worthy of any and all accolades.”
