Georgia Charter Schools Association is excited to recognize Mikayah Michaud, a graduate of Hapeville Charter Career Academy, as an outstanding senior in the class of 2020. Michaud was nominated by Shavonne White-Powell, an Environmental Science, Human Anatomy and Physiology and AP Psychology Teacher at Hapeville Charter Career Academy.
What are the student’s plans after graduation?
Mikayah plans to attend a 4-year college.
Why does this student deserve recognition?
Mikayah is consistently giving her best, and she has been doing this since I’ve known her. I first taught Mikayah for a semester during her 10th-grade year. I also had the opportunity to teach her during her entire senior year. Along with always giving her best, she is always prepared and well organized. She is pleasant to be around because she always has a great attitude. She willingly participates in class, and she asks questions when she needs a better understanding. She works well alone and with others. She is a well-rounded student who I believe has a promising future.
How has attending a Georgia public charter school benefited the student?
I believe that the small setting of a charter school allowed Mikayah to receive an education that catered to her learning styles and needs. Because of this, Mikayah was comfortable in the classroom, which encouraged participation and productivity.
