On Wednesday, July 24, North Metro Academy of Performing Arts held its inaugural community barbecue. The purpose of the event was to connect the school to the broader community, along with parents, students, and other key stakeholders.
“This was an amazing event to kick off the 2019-2020 school year,” said Dr. Rodriguez Johnson, Principal of North Metro Academy of Performing Arts. “We’ve moved to a new location in the city of Norcross, and we’ve seen a continued increase in student enrollment.”
Community members and business partners donated school supplies and other goods to the event. The community barbecue also served as a launch to KinderCamp, a program that allows Kindergarten students to experience North Metro Academy of the Performing Arts before their first day. This year, the school welcomed more than 88 Kindergartners to its family. North Metro Academy for the Performing Arts also celebrated the addition of visual arts to its performing arts department.
