Northwest Classical Academy (NCA), a state-funded, public charter school located in Kennesaw, Georgia welcomed 504 students in grades K-6 for its first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 11.
“We are excited to bring to the northwest metro area a tuition-free, public charter school devoted to forming intelligent virtuous citizens via a classical, liberal arts curriculum,” said Matthew Kirby, Founder of both NCA and its sister school, Atlanta Classical Academy.
Northwest Classical Academy is a replication of Atlanta Classical Academy, a highly successful charter school approved by Atlanta Public Schools. The public charter school is authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia and is an affiliate of Hillsdale College’s Barney Charter School Initiative. NCA will offer a rigorous, classical curriculum with a focus on virtue. Its content-rich, liberal arts curriculum includes literature, history, mathematics, sciences, Latin, the arts, character education, and ultimately a host of sports, fine arts, and extracurricular activities.
Next year, NCA will add grades 7- 8, then add a grade each year until it reaches its full K-12 configuration. The school is tuition-free, and all Georgia families are eligible to attend.
