Patrice Barks is an Attendance Officer at Georgia Cyber Academy. She created an amazing song and video to help students log into class. Tracking online school attendance can be a difficult task and a new process for many schools. Patrice has helped motivate students to attend class by coming up with the concept of H.E.R.O. which stands for “Here, Engaged, Ready, Online” and she made a music video to go along with it. In addition, Patrice meets with parents daily helping them understand the importance of class attendance. Patrice gives parents interventions to help them with attendance in the future.
Patrice created items with the H.E.R.O. logo on them to garner support from the community. She also reached out to Six Flags and secured a multi-year agreement to give several families Six Flags passes for perfect attendance.
