Georgia Charter Schools Association salutes Ricardo Brown. He teaches social studies at Fulton Leadership Academy, an all-male public charter school authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission in Fulton County. Brown also serves on the Griffin-Spalding County Board of Education.
“Mr. Brown came to Fulton Leadership Academy and raised the bar as the 8th grade Social Studies teacher, he took on the role of Beta Sponsor, field trip chair, before school teacher, his goal was to empower our scholars and push them into uncomfortable spaces that he has accomplished,” says “He exposed our scholars to the State Capital taking a group to the 2019 Governor Inauguration as well as participate in the Ga Charter School Day at the Capital. Mr. Brown has invited his mentors as well as local legislative officials to FLA to meet and talk with our Scholars. Mr Brown has the ability to make learning fun, bringing out the genius in our scholars. He has the gift of being able to teach within the Georgia Standards as well as outside the box. Mr. Brown makes education fun while his methods may seem tough the end results is unmeasurable.”‘
Brown uses his background in politics and education to help students learn to use their personal voice and talents to succeed in college, future career endeavors and life. His eighth grade students have consistently outperformed the district and the state on the Georgia Milestones assessments.
