Applications are now being accepted for Start-up Grants up to $300,000 from the Georgia Strategic Charter School Growth Initiative. To be eligible, schools/networks must have an approved charter or approval for expansion (new grade band or 150+ new seats) from a charter school authorizer in Georgia, and they must be locating a brick and mortar school in a community outside of the City of Atlanta, at least three miles from any other charter school. Schools/networks may apply for funds if they have received other grant funds from the initiative, but start-up funds shall not exceed $300,000. All funds must be expended by September 30, 2023.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis as funds are available. The next deadline for consideration for schools that are already approved for opening/expansion Fall 2023 is January 17, 2023. Applicants must be able to access Google Forms to submit an application. A grant description and budget template are attached, and links can be found below.
All grant awards shall be administered by the State Charter Schools Foundation ofGeorgia (SCSF) as subgrants of a GEER II grant award. The Georgia Strategic CharterSchool Growth Initiative is a partnership between the SCSF, State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia, and the Georgia Charter Schools Association. The initiative is funded by a GEER II grant awarded by the Office of Governor Brian Kemp.
