GaTAPP- Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy
The GCSA GaTAPP program is designated for teachers who are employed by a Georgia public school but are not traditionally certified in a post-secondary college or university school of education. GaTAPP is a performance-based, job-embedded teacher preparation program for teacher candidates to earn an induction and professional teaching certificate via a blended-model professional learning training that includes demonstration of proficient classroom performance, external field experiences, and support from an assigned Candidate Support Team. This is a one to three-year program that results in a Performance-Based certification (once 3 total years of teaching experience is satisfied) by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). All potential GaTAPP candidates must meet minimum eligibility requirements that include holding a degree from an accredited institution and providing passing scores on the following assessments:
- Georgia Educator Ethics pre-assessment (GACE #350)
- GACE Program Admissions assessment (formerly referred to as Basic Skills assessments)
- GACE content assessment directly aligned to the field/grade level you are teaching and seeking initial teacher certification.
Please visit the GACE website for testing opportunities at http://gace.ets.org/. In addition to the above requirements, all GaTAPP candidates should have certification number on file with the GaPSC. If you have not already done so, you can begin that process by registering for a MyPSC account at https://mypsc.gapsc.org/Register.aspx. Click HERE to review GaTAPP eligibility requirements.
For more information or questions about the GCSA GaTAPP program, please contact Shani Vickery, Director of Certification Programs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
**If you are employed at a non-charter school, please reach out to your district GaTAPP program. You will need a referral/permission from them to enroll.**
