ATLANTA, GA: January 3, 2012 — Dr. Otho Tucker, CEO of Lake Oconee Academy, a high achieving public charter school in Greensboro, GA, has been named board chair of the Georgia Charter Schools Association (GCSA). Dr. Tucker had previously served the GCSA board as Vice President for Advancement .
Dr. Tucker is one of the Southeast’s leading charter school experts and advocates. He holds Superintendent Certification in the states of Georgia and North Carolina. An accomplished teacher, principal and business consultant, Dr. Tucker sits on the Educational Board of Advisors at Kennesaw State University, and was Director of the Office of Charter Schools for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. He has advised the U.S. Dept. of Education, The National Charter Schools Institute, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Dr. Tucker received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He holds a B.S. in Agricultural Science from the University of Illinois where he was an Academic All American.
