Atlanta, GA – The rapid growth of public charter schools in Georgia has led the Georgia Charter Schools Association (GCSA) to seek larger office space. Under a five-year lease agreement, the organization began operations in its new location at 211 Perimeter Center Parkway NE, on Monday, November 3, 2014.
The move underscores the growth of charter schools in Georgia. Currently there are 225,259 students enrolled in public charter schools in Georgia, representing 13.6% of the state’s student population. Innovative new charter schools are set to open next year in Valdosta, Albany, Augusta, Macon, along with many new schools in Metro Atlanta. Petitions for new charters are coming at a record pace.
Dr. Tony Roberts, President & CEO of GCSA explained, “Our new office is an optimum location for us to serve our existing GCSA charter schools as well as school districts and communities who are seeking to establish new public charter schools. Being at the north end of the perimeter in Atlanta makes us more accessible by public transportation and by car.
Several members of the GCSA staff are already taking the MARTA train to the Dunwoody Springs station, which is across the street from the office, and everyone is enjoying the ample free parking at the building.
GCSA’s main phone number remains unchanged. The Association may be reached at 404-835-8900.
