ATLANTA, GA – Georgia Charter Schools Association (GCSA) is pleased to announce the selection of Hannah Heck as Vice Chair of GCSA’s Board of Directors. Heck’s knowledge about charter schools and her expertise in law, state government and education are the perfect combination for her new role overseeing the only nonprofit membership organization that advocates for Georgia’s charter schools.
“We are excited to have Hannah as Vice Chair of our Board,” said Georgia Charter Schools Association President and CEO Tony Roberts. “She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the education policy and governance areas that will be extremely valuable to our work.”
Heck is an attorney and serves as a founding board member and vice chair of Westside Atlanta Charter School. In 2015, she served on Governor Nathan Deal’s Education Reform Commission and its School Choice Subcommittee.
Prior to law school, Heck spent five years working as a policy advisor and as the Director of Policy for Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue. She also served on the board of the Georgia Department of Community Health from 2009-2012. Heck received a B.A. in Psychology from Harvard College and her J.D. from Emory University School of Law.
