Founded in 2011, KIPP Atlanta Collegiate High School was the fifth KIPP Atlanta school to open and is the only KIPP high school in Atlanta. KIPP Atlanta Collegiate is located in the Henry McNeal Turner High School building, formerly a segregated public school that opened in 1951. The building’s namesake, Henry McNeal Turner, was an influential Black political and religious leader in Georgia. Today, KIPP Atlanta Collegiate carries the legacy of Henry McNeal Turner and Turner High School graduates, who would later become the first to integrate universities, businesses, employment, governments, and other institutions.
