The Georgia Charter Schools Association (GCSA) will host a free interactive webinar for individuals interested in starting a high-quality charter school, 8-9 p.m., April 27. The purpose of this FREE interactive webinar, “Getting Started Opening a High Quality Charter School,” is to set expectations for new founders about the requirements for opening a high quality charter school in Georgia.
CharterLeader Educational Leadership Module will be conducted for current or potential leaders covering skills and compentencies in hiring, retaining, developing, and leading a high quality charter school staff and instructional program.
The CharterLeader Business Module will provide training to current or potential charter school leaders related to the business aspects of running a high quality charter school.
CharterStart 101 for registered participants will be conducted.
CharterStart (full program) registration and deposit is DUE for participation in the summer cohort.
CharterLeader seeks to help aspiring educational professionals accelerate their path to being charter school leaders, while also taking current school leaders to the next level. The program combines intensive modules in educational and school business leadership, unavailable in conventional graduate schools of education.

GCSA is committed to assisting Georgia’s charter schools with remaining compliant with federal and state statutes and regulations. To this end, we have created CharterPolicy, a set of policy template offerings to assist boards with adopting sound policies. We now have available federal policy templates. An op-ed by GCSA CEO Dr. Tony Roberts, which points out the true intentions of school district administrators who are suing to have the State Charter Commission declared unconstitutional, was published Monday on the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s editorial page and on its “Get Schooled” blog.
This year’s annual Charter School Conference was the most highly attended in the event’s eight-year history! Highlights included the attendance of more than 50 teachers, courtesy of scholarships from The Coca Cola Foundation and keynote remarks from noted public education reform advocates Kevin Chavous and Dr. Harry Wong. Many of the presentations from the nearly 50 breakout sessions at the Conference are available here through April 12.
