Read moreWe are truly saddened by the death of former Georgia Governor Zell Miller. Miller was a true champion for education. He helped pave the way for the more than 86,000 children who are enrolled in a Georgia charter school today. In 1993, he signed a law allowing for conversion charter schools. In 1998, Miller took an even larger step by signing an act that led to the creation of startup charter schools throughout Georgia. Twenty years later, we reflect on his life and legacy and are grateful for all that he did to benefit the state’s public school students.
