Akaysia Gantt is a fifth-grade math teacher at Spring Creek Charter Academy in Bainbridge. The individual who nominated Ms. Gantt describes her as a dedicated educator who has been instrumental to the success of her public charter school.
“Akaysia is one of the strongest “new” teachers I have ever seen. She began her career as a 4th-grade math teacher at SCCA in the school’s first year of operation three years ago. She was a strong asset to helping establish a positive school culture, especially one of high expectations for staff and students. Her students have always exhibited great academic growth. For example, 68% of her students met their projected growth on the Winter MAP Growth benchmark, and her overall growth was in the 99th percentile for the NWEA MAP national percentile ranking. She has a wonderful rapport with students and makes learning engaging and fun.”
“My goal every single day is to make math fun. I want my students to always feel completely confident with whatever “math problem” is thrown at them,” said Ms. Gantt. “Our learning involves a lot of dry erase boards, task cards, CANDY, Kahoots, etc!”
Akaysia received her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education at Troy University. She was born and raised in the small town of Andalusia, AL. and grew up surrounded by influential, loving, and supportive family and friends. She enjoys reading, Hulu, traveling, shopping, and most of all learning.
