Georgia Department of Education Names AP Honor Schools

The following charter schools below were named the 2018 AP Honor Schools by the Georgia Department of Education. The department began recognizing AP Honor schools in 2008. The state is currently ranked 15th in the U.S. for the percentage of students who receive scores of 3, 4 or 5 on at least one AP exam during high school. 

2018 AP Challenge Schools (schools with 900 or fewer students that test in the core areas of English, math, science, and social studies).

  • Charles R. Drew Charter School
  • KIPP Atlanta Collegiate
  • Lake Oconee Academy
  • Hapeville Career Academy

2018 AP Access and Support Schools (schools where at least 30 percent of the AP exams are taken by African-American and/or Hispanic students who earn scores of 3 or higher.)

  • Charles R. Drew Charter School
  • Georgia Cyber Academy

AP Merit Schools (schools where at least 20 percent of the students taking AP exams and half of those taking the exams earn scores of 3 or higher.) 

  • Academy of Classical Education
  • Chamblee Charter High School
  • Lake Oconee Academy 

2018 AP STEM Schools (schools with students who test in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses)

  • Chamblee Charter High School
  • Georgia Connections Academy
  • Georgia Cyber Academy
  • KIPP Atlanta Collegiate

2018 AP STEM Achievement Schools (schools with students who test in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses and 40 percent of those students receive a score 3 or higher on AP math and science exams.

  • Chamblee Charter High School
  • Georgia Connections Academy
  • Georgia Cyber Academy

2018 AP Humanities Schools (schools with students who take AP tests in the following AP courses: at least one English Language Arts course, two social sciences courses, one fine arts course and one world language course.)
