Please encourage your teachers to apply for GCSA’s alternative teacher certification program! Although charter schools are able to waive teacher certification, it’s critical to make sure all teachers are on a path to certification. This not only improves teacher quality, but it also increases the funding your school receives through the state formula. Friday, Feb. 11, is the application deadline for the winter/spring cohort of Georgia Charter Schools Association’s GaTAPP Program. What is GaTAPP? GaTAPP is an alternate certification pathway for individuals who have a current teaching job and hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in fields of study other than education. GaTAPP is a one to three-year performance-based, job-embedded teacher preparation program for teacher candidates to earn a clear renewable teaching certificate via a blended model of professional learning and pedagogy seminars.
