This fall, Georgia will welcome two new charter schools: Excelsior Village Academies and Rocky Creek Charter Academy. With Excelsior Village Academies opening in Henry County and Rocky Creek Charter Academy opening in Augusta, these new schools will increase the availability of high-quality public education options for students throughout the state. With these additions, Georgia will have 96 charter schools, collectively educating approximately 65,000 students.
Excelsior Village Academies
Located on a sprawling 37-acre campus in Stockbridge, Georgia, Excelsior Village Academies opened its doors on Monday, Aug. 5, marking a significant milestone in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Starting with grades K-3, Excelsior Village Academies plans to expand to serve students up to the eighth grade in the coming years. The state-authorized charter school is a GCSA Incubator participant.
Excelsior will serve students in Fulton, Clayton, Henry, and Dekalb counties. The school’s stated mission is to “provide quality K-8 school choice by offering a rigorous academic program in a community centered learning environment”, preparing students for a life of impact and service by helping them “develop the skills needed to thrive in college and careers.”
Excelsior Village Academies employs a classical education model, emphasizing a rigorous study of literature, history, the arts, and languages to cultivate well-rounded scholars. The classical educational approach follows the “trivium”, a three-part process that aligns with human development stages: grammar, logic, and rhetoric.
Excelsior Village Academies is co-designed with input from families, educators, and community organizations, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive educational environment. As a school, EVA thrives on community involvement, engaging local stakeholders in the design and continuous improvement of our educational programs. The Family Fun Day and groundbreaking ceremony held earlier this year exemplifies their commitment to building a strong, connected school community. Learn more about EVA!
